Wonderful early antique TOPSY-TURVY African American primitive cloth doll 12 1/2

Wonderful, original hand stitched, EARLY,
sturdy sawdust stuffed
, two-in-one, "topsy-turvy" back and white,
primitive AMERICANA
cloth doll, circa 1860s. They are 12 1/2" tall, all cloth with beautifully hand stitched features. They wear
all their original turkey red flower printed clothing and matching bandanna on the dark girl and antique lace prairie bonnet & with face framing ruffle
on white girl. Both have sweet expressions and movable arms with mitt-type hands. The skirt can be flipped to cover the opposite doll. This
exceptional doll still retains all of her charm.
They are in very good condition considering their age with overall light soiling and dress fabric splits, sawdust leaking from one of the white doll's arms.
All parts and clothing are original with no repair or additions.
