    Description

For sale a Ravca doll made in France between 1924 and 1939 dressed in the costume of Berri, France.
She has a stockinette face, individually sculpted cloth body and limbs, and original clothes.
She is dressed in a cotton skirt of thin narrow red stripes on white, a white cotton peasant blouse , a wide black velvet cummerbund, a rose fichu and apron,
beige Berri coiffe (headdress), brown variegated socks, and brown wooden sabots.  She has red and green striped wool and knitting needles in her left hand.  There is a paper tag sewn on her apron that says "Original RAVCA // PARIS " on one side and "Berri // Bernard Ravca (signature)" on the other and
a cloth tag on the back of her skirt says“Made in France.”  On her pantaloons is "B Ravca."
These "Made in France" dolls were featured in "Foreign Folk Doll" Catalogue by Kimport Dolls, Independence, Missouri in 1939 and 1940.  Bernard Ravca left France for New York during WWII and became an American Citizen in 1947.
She is in excellent condition except for a 1/4" spot (glue from a tag?) on her apron and slight fraying there (See photos).
