These debris caps or mud plugs are used in the top section of the valve box to keep debris, sand, grit, mud, and dirt from going tot the bottom of the valve box. This can save countless hours of spooning or augering out debris from around the valve nut or bringing out equipment to vacuum or clean out the mud and debris. Maintain better response time to main breaks by not having to clean out valve boxes to shut down the main. Valve boxes not filled with mud and silt will also drain better resulting in less valve part and valve box corrosion and longer useful life. Part of a smart asset management program for sustained infrastructure lifespan.
They can also be used as night plugs to keep animals, bugs, and dirt out of 6" pipe under construction with the same inside diameter.
For 6" Valve boxes (5.9" to 6.25" I.D.)
(Fits the TOP SECTION of most 5-1/2" valve boxes. Middle/bottom section must not extend to top)
Rugged Hard Plastic Shell
Soft rubber top seal (adjustable by cutting)
Twist wheel to tighten and secure near the top of the valve box
Rubberized seat to hold securely against the valve box walls
Debris gets trapped in the top and is easily pulled out and held in the top of the cap for disposal.
