This is USGS Professional Paper 1046-B,
    Lunar Remote Sensing and Measurements
. Published in 1980, this is one of only a few rare publications the USGS did on behalf of NASA on Lunar geology. This is part two of the four-part “Apollo 15-17 Orbital Investigations” series, all of which I am currently offering on auction.
This 78-page book discusses how remote sensing data both from Earth and manned and unmanned orbiting craft have contributed to our understanding of the geology of the moon. Information gathered from these sources combined with data collected during the Apollo missions allows for good interpretation of lunar geology, and allows for selection of future mission sites that can be chosen to provide high scientific yields. Various sets of remote sensing data are discussed with the contributions of each given in detail. Numerous maps and diagrams of the moon make this fairly understandable to even a layman. A rare opportunity for collectors of Apollo program literature and memorabilia.
