    Description

This is a NASA Apollo AS-201 Flown Large Heat Shield Segment in Vintage Acrylic.
A section of ablative material removed from the CSM-009 heat shield and enclosed in a truncated space capsule-shaped display 3 ¾” x 3” x 1 ¾” in size and weighs about 4 ounces.
The inside reads “Apollo Spacecraft 009 Ablator (18000 mph reentry 2-26-66)”.
On the back are felt tabs so this could be used as a paperweight.
As-201 was the first unmanned test flight of an entire Block I CSM with a Saturn IB launch vehicle.
