  • Condition: This listing comes from Estate of retired NASA Shuttle Projects MGR. at Marshall Space Flight Center.. Also known as the "ENGINE MAN" from the Saturn/Apollo days. He led the recovery process in not only the Challenger but Columbia accident's and was a key figure in the Apollo missions. All 3 pieces are in Near Mint condition with the Mcdonnell Douglas pen ink dried up but none of these have been used.. Please see all pictures.

    Description

    This recent find comes from Estate of the retired NASA/MSFC (George C. Marshall Space Flight Center) SPACE SHUTTLE Projects MGR. Alex McCool "ENGINE MAN" (He also played a major role in Saturn Engine development on the Apollo) and managed both the Challenger and Columbia Shuttle disaster Recovery/Investigations. This listing is for a Lot of 3 NASA/McDonnell Douglas pieces that Mr. McCool boxed up from his desk/office upon Retirement in 2004 and are as Follow.  (1) A 3" tall Composite granite (1963-2003) 40 Years "Space Flight Awareness" Desktop with original black felt drawstring pouch. (2) A black/silver Aluminum "Space Flight Awareness" Pen and Mechanical Pencil Desk set in its Original Metal "Space Gateway Support" (Both Pen/Pencil have never been used). (3) Lastly theres a Vintage Pen and Mechanical Pencil Set from "McDonnell Douglas" with side and top cap print/logo made by Quill and in Original boxes (Never used but pen refill is partially dried from being in storage).  Note: Multiple articles and NASA PDF's on Mr. McCools accomplishments are online.  Please see all pictures and condition description.
