Description

This listing is for a NASA 70mm glass film slide, which came from the collection of Richard Underwood. Richard had a major role in the photography department at NASA. He personally trained the astronauts on photography techniques. He was the first person to view the photographs taken in space. And he led the team that created the first topographic maps of the Moon. Richard made this slide as a visual aid, to be used by the astronauts and NASA PR representatives as they traveled and gave presentations. It was created by mounting a 70mm film frame to a blue backing sheet, which was then pressed between two sheets of glass with silver foil tape on the edges to hold the pieces together.
This particular slide features a shot of Comet Humason. I bought this slide as part of a larger set from The Right Stuff Inc. They included a COA, and I will include a color photocopy of it with this item. This slide is over 50 years old, so it's no longer in mint condition. Some of the slides have minor cracks/scratches/stains from their years of travel and use. And the film itself has some discoloration with age, as is expected with any photochemical film. I've included photos of the exact item you'll receive, so please refer to those for a closer look.
