    Description

Here is a fabulous, large, rare, early 1920s boudoir doll from France, according to my research. She is wearing her original clothes! That’s really hard to find.
She has no label, but the sofa doll looks just like the French dolls called Poupees GERB from Paris. She would be a wonderful addition to a boudoir doll collection, as would another boudoir doll I am selling separately (see link below). She has pretty amber brown eyes.
This young woman doll’s face is delicately hand painted on silk with red bee-stung lips and very rosy cheeks. She has amber blonde mohair curls. Her thick eyelashes are either combed silk or mohair. As with many of these antique dolls, there is slight scuffing on her nose. Another injury from time? Broken fingers on her left hand.
This thoughtful-looking doll has an incredible outfit: a faded fuchsia velvet bodice and huge puffy sleeves, a dusty rose silk long skirt, and a fabulous stiff net double layer over skirt with lavender velvet ties. The net skirt is ombre, starting with a pink area near the waist and fading into tones of peach. Under all this, she wears a ivory net hoop skirt held in place at the bottom with a fairly thick strand of wires. Under THAT, she wears dusty rose silk pantalettes. Under THAT she has porcelain or bisque lower legs and forearms. Her body is stuffed with straw. She wears a sun hat made of ivory cotton held in place with rows of metal wires, and a velvet top. The entire costume is held in place with stitches and metal stick pins.
Her head and chest are a slightly firm material, some kind of composite, covered in very fine silk which molds to he face. Her features are hand painted on to the silk. The silk from her chin to her chest is a bit dirty from age.
She’s a tall doll! I have to put her in a box that is 39″ long, so shipping will be expensive. If you would like to buy her, give me your address and I will see if there are shipping alternatives.

Measures approximately 29″ tall (35″ with hat)
Condition: Very good antique condition – broken fingers on left hand, some holes in the net of the over skirt, some discoloration on her chest, neck and chin areas. Her nose is scuffed and there is also a tiny hole in the silk over her left cheek.
Please note that color photographs display slightly differently on each digital platform. I do my best to capture the actual color in my photographs, but there can be distinctions.
