1963 Nasa Apollo Manned Flight Awareness Poster featuring Astronaut Gus Grissom in full space suit gear titled "DO GOOD Work" signed in print Gus Grissom which is approximately 17 x 22 inches in an light yellow with a gray black background with no aging along bottom with no detectable loss, extremely fine condition. The posters were created to enhance employee motivation for job quality and flight safety within NASA and its contractors by the Manned Awareness program initiated in 1963.  These were tightly rolled up and the bottom several of them would be exposed, this one in particular has no exposure as it was the innermost poster; overall very fine condition. Poster has a very strong original spring from rolled position. This is the final offering being the very last one and the finest condition.
The Do Good Work was a motto he put forward in the construction of the Apollo spacecraft. It's one of those posters that have an ironic tragic end when it was determined that poor workmanship was contributing factor in the fire in the Apollo 1 spacecraft that claimed the lives in seventeen seconds when a spark ignited an oxygen conflagration on the ground systems test of the AS-204 with Gus Grissom along with fellow astronauts Edward White and Roger Chaffee on January 27, 1967.
Grissom also had a problem with the third human spaceflight with the Mercury capsule nicknamed the Liberty Bell 7 on July 21, 1961 on splashdown when the hatch cover accidentally blew before a rescue helicopter was able to latch on the capsule and it was eventually lost while taking on water to the ocean depths while Grissom nearly drowned, which may be the very reason that he was selected to be on this particular poster with this particular message.
