Extremely rare, large French antique, dark leather toddler doll, sweet features

Description

Here is one of the most charming, all original, commercially produced antique, molded and treated leather and cloth, dolls we have had the pleasure to offer. Resembling some of the earliest Martha Chase dolls she stands just over 20" tall. This delightful chubby toddler doll has fine quality molded and oil painted features including big blue, side-glancing eyes with highlights,
very realistic, deeply
molded eyelids, cheek folds, sweet mouth and broad nose giving her a
mischievous expression
. She also has slightly molded hair beneath her wooly mohair wig, a sturdy (canvas like) black cloth body with button joints at her shoulders and hips and probably had a swivel neck as it has been stitched in place (see close up photos for details). She has a firmly stuffed and molded, realistic torso and sturdy legs and arms with leather-like hands with individual fingers (one hand has damage as shown). She wears what must be her original, flower printed cotton dress, pantaloons, spectacular plaid cotton stockings, black leather shoes with button closures, (one shoe is quite worn) daffodil yellow velveteen coat with hand embroidered collar, cuffs & hem and her very fine antique straw bonnet with wide brim, flower trim and
silk lining
. Other than her hand damage and stitched neck issues, she has a few paint age cracks (as shown) on one lower side of her neck which don't detract from her CHARM! She does not have any holes or tears, no repainting or odors and is from a smoke free home. Her African American friend in red and white outfit is
not included
.
