Authentic Flown Apollo 11 CM Columbia Kapton Foil.
This is Authentic Flown Apollo 11 Kapton Foil removed from the command module Columbia after splash down. I obtained the Flown Apollo 11 Kapton Foil from a retired NASA Director who worked at NASA during the Mercury project through STS testing & STS-1. The NASA employee gave me a letter authenticating the foil and I will send a copy with the purchase. Please email me if you`d like to see the letter prior to purchase. The NASA employee passed away and I do not publish the letter out of respect for his family. I have had the foil locked away for years, except what I have displayed in my collection. I never wanted to sell any of the foil, however, with inflation I sell so I may continue to buy for my collection.  Please only interested buyers and reasonable offers. I have placed 2 pieces of Flown Apollo 11 Command Module Kapton Foil in a 3D display frame measuring 1-1/2 inches long by 1 inch wide. This is an approximant measurement as the foil can be very delicate when cutting. Please look at the pictures closely, as the pictures are the description. Usually, Authentic Kapton foil of this size sales for much more. I wanted to assist other collectors with their collection and offer the foil as affordable as I can as well as larger pieces. Please no intentional buyers. Thank you for looking. I usually do not give the back story to the foil until a purchase has been made. However, I will give a very brief description as to how I came to have the foil.
I met the NASA employee in 2009 and obtained the foil from him in 2013. The NASA employee was given the foil by his Deputy Administrator after Apollo 11 command module Eagle was taken to North American for disassembly and testing. During the first few days of the command modules journey to the North American hangar many souvenir hunters were able to simply step up and pick a piece of foil off the command module. Once the foil that remained was removed at North American it was given to NASA. NASA used the foil for Award certificates to employee`s that played a key role in the Apollo 11 mission. The NASA employee I obtained the foil from was a very high ranking employee and was well deserved of the foil he was given. This employee kept the foil without displaying until I was given the opportunity to obtain the foil. I displayed a few pieces in my collection and put what remained in file and locked it away. Never thinking I would sell the foil. Once COVID hit and then the huge increase in the prices of almost everything, I decided to sell some of the foil. Like I stated above, I enjoy helping other collectors advance their collections. To have a piece of Authentic Apollo 11 command module Kapton Foil is huge to a true NASA collector. I have always felt that the price other sellers charge for the foil is insane. I wanted to help collectors by allowing them to afford the Kapton Foil as well.
