APOLLO SATURN 5 F-1 ROCKET ENGINE GAS GENERATOR
An important Saturn 5, F-1 rocket engine gas generator ball valve posistion switch manufactured by Bourns Incorporated for North American Rockwell, Rocketdyne division.
The gas generator valve is a hydraulically operated valve which controls and sequences entry of propellants into the gas generator.  Hydraulic fluid is recirculated through a passage in the valve housing to maintain seal integrity and to prevent the fuel in the fuel ball housing from freezing.  Fuel is also recirculated through a passage in the piston between the opening port and the closing port to prevent the piston O-ring from freezing.
