Up for auction , a folky antique   Dolly Varden   rag doll with embossed  thick heavy paper face with blond curls, blue eyes and a sweet smile.  Dolly Varden doll is a rare doll based on a Charles Dickens character in a novel.  The doll dates back to aproximate 1906.   She is wearing a red and white striped bonnet that surrounds her face  but the back of her bonnet  is a black calico material , her dress is blue checked and just wrapped around her body.  She has 2 arms that are made from different materials , and then to top it off she is wearing a faded blue cape that is stiched on.  She is straw  stuffed and her legs and feet  are made from a kind of ticking material. There are no hems to the dress or cape !  What a funny doll .   She is 13 inches tall with expected wear from age and play. She really is  "one of a kind " !
