    :  At Qantas, the 747's upper deck area was previously home to the luxurious
    Captain Cook Lounge
    .  As the economic realities of operating jumbo jets evolved throughout the 1970s, most airlines realized that these lounges produced no direct revenue.  Onboard lounges were progressively removed, to be replaced by additional passenger seating, providing carriers with the ability to generate more revenue on each flight.
