One flight up, far from the rest of the plane, Qantas now has an intimate room with a club atmosphere.   Instead of up to 36 Economy seats, there are only 16 extra-wide 'special' seats, like those found in the First Class cabins of other airlines.
In addition to generous space, which is regarded as a very special luxury, especially on long-distance flights, our Business Class service also includes fast check-in together with First Class passengers, free drinks, a choice of two culinary menus, stereo headphones and the very latest movies.

BACKGROUND
:  At Qantas, the upper deck area on the Boeing 747 was previously home to the luxurious Captain Cook Lounge.  As the economic realities of operating jumbo jets evolved throughout the 1970s, most airlines realized that these lounges produced no direct revenue.  Onboard lounges were progressively removed, to be replaced by additional passenger seating, providing carriers with the ability to generate more revenue on each flight.
