Rare to see anything addressed to his home address where he spent much of the 60's, yes one can only imagine him walking out to his mailbox and picking this magazine up. Here it is the soon to be the "star" of all shows looking at a cover that would only in a few months so much pertain to his legendary accomplishment. Yes, this magazine is dated January 17, 1969 just months before the historic mission. Not very often now, do you see personal items once owned by Neil Armstrong come to market and this has to be one of the greatest items that he owned since the magazine cover reads, "Our Journey to the Moon" which of course this is what made him a legend for not only in today's world, but for thousands of years to come. It has been often stated that hundreds or thousands of years from now Neil Armstrong will likely be the only name still well known from our era.
In my opinion, Neil Armstrong items will go through the roof when other countries begin to send humans to the moon which isn't that far off. Space exploration is exploding with billionaires in the US and countries around the world all vying for who will be next to send humans to the moon. Regardless of what happens, whether thousands or twenty people go to the moon in the coming years, you can never take away who was first and that of course will always be Neil Armstrong. Many compare him to Christopher Columbus and there is no need to pump this up since we all know he will always be known as not only the first human to ever step foot on the moon, but he will also be known as the first human to ever step foot in another world. But for argument sake and to put into perspective on what we have here, IF IT EXISTED and of course it didn't, but how great would it be to own Christopher Columbus's personal copy of a magazine where the cover reads, "Our Journey to Discover America"? You get the point.
Once owned by the legend himself words can't describe the historic significance of this magazine. To just imagine the STAR of the show or the legend himself reading this magazine and putting his fingerprints all over it is beyond belief, "Our journey to the Moon" as the cover states. Not that analogies are needed since being the first to step foot on the moon makes home run records, presidents of the United States, or other historic accomplishments pale in comparison to what Neil Armstrong did, but here are a few: what would Hank Aarons Sports Illustrated personal copy (addressed to him) fetch if the cover stated, "Hank Aaron Chasing Babe Ruth's all time home run record", I can bet if it existed at least 6 figures or if it existed Barack Obama's personal copy of Time Magazine with the cover reading Barack Obama will make history when sworn in as the first African American President ever. Yes, probably six figures, and once again no analogies needed when you are at the top of the spectrum with your accomplishment, but it just puts into perspective what we really have here. Who knows if this were to be placed in an auction house like Christies or Sotheby's what it could fetch.
Nothing like it in the world and priced fairly considering what other personal items of the legend himself have fetched.
Once personally owned by Neil Armstrong, GRADED, and a one of a kind unique collectible, no funny stuff here like someone signing Neil Armstrong on a photo in their basement or my grandfather gave me this rock that Neil brought back from the moon. Yes, iron clad provenance here with a coa signed by both of Neil's sons!!!
00 is cheap considering what other personal items of Neil Armstrong have fetched.
The fact that this magazine was addressed to, likely read, touched many times, and in the possession of the legend himself is worth the 00 alone. Furthermore, what makes this Apollo 11/Neil Armstrong collectible so amazing is the fact that the cover also focuses on "Sirhan" who of course was the one who shot RFK. The historic significance of having the person who shot JFK's brother on the cover also when JFK was the one who challenged the country to send humans to the moon by the end of the decade only adds to the historic significance of this magazine.
A great showpiece that belongs in the same room with any marquee historic items and framed this would look great on any desk, wall, cabinet, or wherever else. A museum piece without question. In addition, what a conversation piece to show off this magazine and to tell someone take a look, it says, "our journey to the moon" which of course was the show of the century or millenium as a quarter of the world watched Neil take his first steps. Ask someone pretty neat, right? Oh by the way, look at the addressed label and see who previously owned this magazine. Yes, out of the millions or hundreds of thousands of Americans who also received this same issue one can only imagine what it is like to be looking at the personal copy of the legend himself.
