Description

1969 APOLLO 11 The Eagle Has Landed coin / medallion from spacecrafts Columbia & Eagle
This is a commemorative presentation folder given to active team participants of the NASA Manned Flight Awareness (MFA).
The medallions contain metal flown on both the Eagle and Columbia during the historic Apollo 11 Mission.
When the mission returned, a small part of the craft was melted into a batch of metal to create these medallions.
This is the first coin in a presentation folder I have seen on ebay!!!!
Folder contains the Apollo 11 Medallion / Coin approximately 1 1/4 inches across:
Coin Obverse: The Eagle has Landed July 20, 1969 - It depicts an astronaut and the planted American flag on the moon
Coin Reverse reads: "This Medallion contains metal from spacecrafts Columbia and Eagle, that took Astronauts
Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins on their historic Apollo 11 mission that resulted in the first landing of man on the Moon."
This was presented to Roger F Shipley who was one of the members of BFEC - Bendix Field Engineering Corp Columbia Maryland
A significant piece of history and is NASA’s original flown Moon Landing Commemorative Coin/Medallion
The presentation folder is approximately 5 1/16 inches high by 7 inches long.
There is an approximately 3 inch crack on the front cover.
Overall condition is good for being 50+ years old.
