Rare 1969 Apollo 11 Lunar Plaque “Here Men From Planet Earth” NASA Moon Landing
Item Description
Up for sale is a rare Apollo 11 July 1969 Commemorative Plaque of the First Moon Landing. A reproduction of the Apollo XI Lunar Plaque originally left by American astronauts on the surface of the moon after their historic moonwalk. The inscription, "Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the moon July 1969, A.D. We came in peace for all mankind", appears below a depiction of the two halves of the earth at top of the plaque. Below the message are the facsimile signatures of Neil Armstrong (1930-2012), Michael Collins (1930-2021), “Buzz” Edwin Aldrin (b.1930), and 37th U.S. President Richard Nixon (1913-1994).
The plate is mounted on a beveled black wood plaque measuring 8" X 6" x ¾”. Overall excellent pre-owned condition. The metal plate has a few very small light scratches. The wood plaque has a small ding on the bottom. Two Velcro strips were added to the back at some point.
